A delegation of foreign envoys from Europe and Africa will visit Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The delegation is likely to be led by European Union Ambassador to India and Bhutan, Ugo Astuto.

According to Greater Kashmir, The delegation will meet members of political parties and other stakeholders including newly appointed District Development Councils (DDC) members, social activists, stakeholders in the hospitality sector and newspaper editors.

Hurriyat stalwart Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called the tour “another sham attempt to hide the reality of Kashmir behind a smokescreen of lies.”
“The envoys are being used to project normalcy in the region and hoodwink the international community.” Geelani said in a Tweet.

The Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) president Maulana Masroor Ansari has termed the delegation’s visit to Kashmir as a “futile” move.
Earlier In October 2019, members of the European Parliament (MEPs) visited J&K on a private tour to assess the ground situation after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
