Kerala University of Digital Sciences, Innovation and Technology (commonly referred to as Digital University Kerala), formally became the first ‘digital university’ to come into being in India.
The university based in Technocity at Mangalapuram, was inaugurated by the Governor of the state, Arif Mohammed Khan on Saturday. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan presided over the inauguration ceremony.
The Governor said that the Digital University would play an important role in developing the talent to ensure a healthy adoption of technology.
The university has been established by upgrading the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Kerala (IIITM-K).
The university offer postgraduate programmes and research in various facets of digital technologies through five schools of knowledge. Specialised centres have also been set up in the University. The university is expected to provide education to 1,200 residential scholars.
