My dream is to see India and Pakistan as good friends, says Malala Yousafzai

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has that it is her dream to see India and Pakistan becoming “good friends”.

Malala added that minorities need protection in every country, be it Pakistan or India.

“Exploitation of power” and must be taken seriously. She said during the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) which is being held virtually.

“It is my dream to see India and Pakistan become true good friends and that we can visit each other’s countries. You can continue to watch Pakistani dramas, we can continue to watch Bollywood movies and enjoy cricket matches,” Malala said.

“You are Indian and I am Pakistani and we are completely fine, then why is this hatred created between us? This old philosophy of borders, divisions and divide and conquer… they just don’t work anymore, as humans we all want to live in peace,” she said.

Malala said that she dreams of quality education for every girl.

The Nobel laureate also raised her voice for minorities across the world, who, according to her are at a “risk”.

Malala also said that the news of the internet shutdowns and arrests of activists in India is “worrying”.

The Jaipur Literature Fest featured over 300 speakers and performers representing variously languages worldwide. 14th edition of the Fest Concluded on Sunday.
