“PSL more rewarding than IPL” says Dale Steyn, gets trolled by Indians

South African fast bowler, Dale Steyn has said that he found the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Sri Lankan Premier League (LPL) “slightly more rewarding” than IPL.

Steyn said that the financial aspect, involvement of “big names” in the IPL meant “the cricket gets forgotten”.

“I found that playing in these other leagues was slightly more rewarding as a player. I think when you go to IPL, there are such big squads and so many big names and so much emphasis on maybe the amount of money players earn and everything like that, so sometimes, somewhere down the line, cricket gets forgotten,” the South African pacer said.

Steyn, who’s currently playing for the PSL side Quetta Gladiators, was talking to Cricket Pakistan’s Saleem Khaliq while he made these comments.

Indians were quick to react to his comment.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane has said that IPL gave the Indian platform to express themselves.

“I don’t know what Dale Steyn said, but we’re here to talk about the Test match.” Rahane said during a press conference.

Earlier this year, Steyn pulled out of IPL 2021 after playing in the league for more than a decade. He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Lions in the IPL and took 97 wickets in 95 matches.
