Actor Mithun Chakraborty, on Sunday, joined the BJP, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at the Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground.
Mithun was handed the party’s flag by party’s state in-charge Kailash Vijayavargiya and state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh.

Mithun had quit the Rajya Sabha as a Trinamool member after two years in office after getting embroiled in the Sharda Chit Fund case.
“Here is my new dialogue. I am not a jol dora snake. I am not a beleghora snake. I am a pure cobra. I strike and you will become a photograph.” Mithun said after joining the party.
There had been speculation that the actor might join BJP and become its face for Chief Minister after RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat met him at his bunglow on February 16.
Assembly elections in West Bengal’s are scheduled to be held in eight phases from March 27 to April 29.
