Former guest Imam of Masjid Al Haram, Makkah and scholar Sheikh Muhammad Ali al Sabuni, passed away on Friday in Turkey. He was 91
Sheikh Muhammed Ali al Sabouni was born in Halab (Aleppo) in the north of Syria, in 1930 AD.
He was the author of the famous Qurʾānic exegesis ‘Safawat al-Tafāsir’ and many other books.
According to the Turkish news Agency Anadolu, al-Sabouni stood with his Syrian people in the revolution against the Assad regime since the start of the revolution in 2011.
In 2021, al-Sabouni was featured in the Muslim 500 list by Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, Jordan.
Egyptian Islamic scholar, Yusuf Al-Qaradawi called him a ‘sincere preacher’ and a ‘working scholar’.
