Soon after the encounter between government forces and militants ended in South Kashmir’s Shopian area, a picture of men hanging from a tree went viral on social media.
Several users claimed that the men hanging from the trees are militants killed in the Shopian gunfight.

Tahrir performed multiple reverse image searches but didn’t find any related images.
However, after searching on Twitter, using the keywords ‘militants hanged from tree’, pictures and videos from Afghanistan’s Kapisa province appeared.

This is a violation of humanitarian principles!
This torture will have a negative effect on peace talks, angering IEA soldiers & forcing them to respond.@US4AfghanPeace pic.twitter.com/Yxw13H4KLs
The men hanging from the trees in the pictures are Taliban members killed in Afghanistan’s Kapisa province and not militants killed in the Shopian encounter which broke out on Monday.
