COVID-19: India reports 62,714 new cases, highest single day rise in 2021

India reported 62,714 new cases of coronavirus infections on Saturday. This is the highest single day rise in India this year. 

In the total number of cases that India recorded on Saturday, Maharashtra alone reported 35,726 new cases. With 3,162 cases, Chhattisgarh reported more Corona virus cases than Punjab. Active cases in India rise to more than 4.86 lakh.

312 people succumbed to the virus on Saturday, it is the highest since December 25.

On Saturday, Centre chaired a high-level meet with 12 states and union territories (UTs) reporting a surge in Covid-19 cases. States and UTs were advised to focus on stringent containment and public health measures in 46 high burden districts.

The country has administered 6,02,69,782 anti-Covid jabs so far, crossing the six-crore milestone.
