Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases, the Ministry of Education has decided to postpone the class 12 exams and cancel the class 10 board exams, after a meeting with Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
The situation for class 12th will be reviewed on June 1 and revised dates will be announced thereafter.
The decision has been taken in response to the several calls to cancel the CBSE board exams by the state ministers and the board exam students.
The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal urged the Centre to cancel the CBSE board exams 2021. Likewise, the Punjab CM Amarinder Singh had written to the Centre requesting their postponement.
Earlier, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi urged the central government to cancel the CBSE 2021 exams.
Students had been campaigning for the cancellation of CBSE board exams. Many demanded cancellation of offline papers or a postponement for now.
