Pakistan PM Imran Khan expresses solidarity with India as the country ‘gasps’ for oxygen

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has “expressed solidarity with India” as the country is seeing a massive surge in Covid-19 cases.

“I want to express our solidarity with the people of India as they battle a dangerous wave of COVID-19,” Imran Khan said in a tweet.

“Our prayers for a speedy recovery go to all those suffering from the pandemic in our neighbourhood & the world. We must fight this global challenge confronting humanity together,” the Pakistani Premier’s tweet further read.

India’s recorded 346,786 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, the health ministry said. COVID-19 deaths across India rose by 2,624 over the past 24 hours.

The country has been facing an oxygen crises, with hospitals begging for oxygen supplies.
