Zafaryab Jilani, a senior advocate and secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, on Thrusday, suffered a brain haemorrhage following which he was taken to the Medanta Hospital in Lucknow treatment.
Jilani is a known face in India for fighting the legal battle for Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. He spent almost 45 years of his life fighting the legal battle for the demolished Mosque.
On December 6, 1992, the Babri mosque was demolished by right-wing Hindu extremists, during the rule of Kalyan Singh, the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
Since then, Jilani has dedicated his time and life to get back the status of Babri Masjid.
