Irfan Pathan, the former all-rounder of the Indian Cricket team, has responded to the criticism faced by his wife Safa Baig over posting a blurred picture on social media.

Pathan’s wife Safa posted a family picture on his son’s Instagram account in which her photo was blurred. The picture received a lot of hate as critics termed covering of face a ‘forced practice’ and subject to oppression. Some people said that the cricketer is not allowing her wife to reveal her face.

Responding to all the controversy around, the cricketer has said, “I am her mate, not her master”. He also said that it is completely her choice to reveal or cover her face.

In a tweet, Pathan clarified his position, by posting the same picture he tweeted, “This picture is posted by my queen with my son’s account. We are getting a lot of hate. Let me post this here as well. She blurred this pic by her choice. And yes, I’m her mate, not her master ;). #herlifeherchoice.”

Pathan is the only Indian fast bowler who took a hat-trick in the first over of the test match, he achieved the feat in a match against Pakistan in 2006.

Pathan’s wife Safa Baig is a former model. She originally belongs to Hyderabad, both married in Mecca, Kingdom of Saudia Arabia in 2016.

Irfan and his brother Yusuf have been actively involved in helping the needy with relief materials throughout the pandemic.
