Biden’s ‘clandestine infatuation’ for Israel; grants $735 million for bombs

Joe Biden government has granted Boeing, a US aircraft making company, a license to export $735 million of advanced weaponry to the Israeli government, Jewish Currents reported.

This comes in sharp contrast to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s regional tour to bolster the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Blinken had pledged to provide $5.5 million emergency aid to help Gaza recover from the destruction yielded by the incessant Israeli attacks.

The U.S. State Department approved the export license to Boeing on May 21, a necessary step in the planned delivery of Joint Direct Attack Munitions and Small Diameter Bombs to Israel.

The report reads “two kinds of laser-guided munitions… were reportedly used by Israel in the 11-day attack on the Gaza Strip that ended on Friday with a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas”.

“The State Department should immediately revoke approval for this arms sale to, at minimum, allow for proper debate in Congress. Remember that these are weapons of war and destruction that will be used to kill children, bomb hospitals, homes, and schools—lives literally hang in the balance,” congresswomen Rashida Tlaib responded.

The US had notified Congress of its intention to provide $735 million of artillery sale to Israel early this May, followed by Israel’s latest attacks on Gaza, which killed hundreds of Palestinians, forcibly displaced tens of thousands and decimated Gaza’s civilian infrastructure into rubbles.

The 11-day intense fight between Israel and Hamas, which ensued major catastrophes on Gaza and Palestinians was defended by the US administration.

“The State Department’s secretive approval of the export license is all you need to know about its apparent anxiety at proceeding with this troubling deal while Israeli war crimes and apartheid rule continue unabated,” Raeed Jarrar, advocacy director of human rights group Democracy for the Arab World Now said in a statement.

He is also reported to have added “Rather than secretly approving arms sales to Israel ahead of his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu,” Jarrar added, “Secretary Blinken should do his due diligence and travel across Gaza to see exactly what kind of harm and destruction American weapons are causing Palestinians.”

The grant of license to Boeing for the sale of $735 million of weaponry comes not as a surprise while it masquerades as a gentleman in its spurious attempts to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The political manoeuvres of the US have surreptitiously aided Israel in the past, while it labels Hamas as a “terrorist organisation”.
