The government on Tuesday evicted some gujjar families from ‘migrant property’ allegedly belonging to a Kashmiri Pandit in Ramnagri area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
According to a report, the officials protected by police managed to take possession of the land comprising over 11 kanals.
The land reportedly belongs to one Pandit Triloki Nath, a Kashmiri migrant.
The report quoted sources and read that the team tried to take possession of the land, the four brothers in occupation of the land showed resistance. However, after some time, they gave up and the possession of the land was taken by the officials.
An official has said that they were implementing the court orders. “The double bench had directed DC Shopian to implement the order and take possession of this migrant property,” he said.
Local sources have said that the matter is subjudice before the High Court.
