The Delhi High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) activist and MBA graduate Gulfisha Fatima’s habeas corpus plea which seeked her release in the northeast Delhi violence conspiracy case.
A bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Asha Menon adjourned the hearing to July 5, citing a large number of cases.
Gulfisha, 28, was arrested on the basis of an FIR on the Jaffrabad sit-in protest against CAA on 9 April 2020. She was slapped with UAPA on 18 April 2020 along with Jamia Millia Islamia student leaders Safoora Zargar and Meeran Haider in connection with the Delhi violence conspiracy case.
The Delhi Police, recently, opposed her petition, saying that it was not maintainable. The police had said that the plea was a “blatant abuse of the process of law and deserves to be dismissed with cost”.
