Translator of Qur’an Dr. Muhsin Khan passes away at 97

Translator of the Qur’an and famous Islamic scholar Dr. Muhsin Khan has passed away in Madinah aged 97.

According to reports, his funeral prayers were held in Masjid Nabvi, Saudi Arabia.

Born in 1927, Khan was known for his English translations of the Qur’an, titled The Noble Qur’an, which he completed along with Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali. He also held the distinction of being the first English translator of Sahih al-Bukhari.

Khan earned a medical degree from the University of Lahore in Pakistan and worked at the same institution’s hospital. He went to the study at the University of Wales in the United  Kingdom  to get  a diploma in Chest Disease. Afterwards, he spent 15 years in Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health department. Later, he served in Madinah as the Chief of the Department of Chest Diseases and as the Director of Islamic University clinic in Madinah.
